A thousand pardons for my absence these past few days, Amurui-qiánbeì, and to any other that I may have unwittingly caused concern to. I have not been entirely well, but am recovered, and shall promptly return to my work.

[Just not going to mention the whole overwork thing. Enough people are getting on his case on that already.]

As for the hourglasses, I will say only this: it is doubtful that a force able to generate such a mark, may be confused or diverted from its purpose by the mere removal of that same mark. And I suspect that you shall be very disappointed if, come the end to the waiting, all others marked will receive some heavenly boon while you will have died of self-inflicted neck wounds.

Patience is a virtue.

You seem to be one of the few who is optimistic about the situation, but I hope you're right. I'm also glad to hear from you again. I was beginning to wonder where you'd gotten off to.

Optimism is the only viable option, if one must live overlong in a situation in which so little is clear and known, and keep some peace of mind. As we have said before: to prepare for any eventuality is impossible.

I thank you for your concern; be assured that all is well.

Strikes quickly blotted. XD

And yet many prefer to choose cynicism. Perhaps it's easier to expect the worst possible outcome, and in that manner not be disappointed if it comes to pass. But this isn't a debate, and we shouldn't be prevented from hoping for the best even as we prepare for the worst.

I have acquired a few new books that you might find interesting, though I ought not and I can let you borrow them if you promise if you'd like.

fffff you're all worry-warts XD

Indeed, that is the most sensible attitude. Excess hope and excess anxiety; both paralyze the mind, when intelligent action is most needed.

Your kindness is boundless; I shall be much obliged. The greatest difficulty is indeed tracing the paths of knowledge, finding the basics upon which the more elaborate and complex ideas are built.

Fine, we'll play along. XD

Clearly, you don't have an hourglass.

At least the guy shooting himself in the neck isn't being complacent about his situation. No one asked for the collars; if They want to hand out surprise gifts, frankly, I'd rather a nice card.

Certainly the plight is not one to make light of. Yet the opposite of rushed, careless action is not complacency; it is planning.

Logic and planning doesn't exactly work in this world.

Although if you have a plan, I would love to hear it.

With certain information lacking, even the most firm connections may seem arbitrary. Yet I may offer this: let us approach the situation with what resources we do have. Your experience being vastly greater than mine: such a focused occurrence, affecting but a few among the many, has it ever done those few any great harm before?

The absence of patience tends to be one's undoing that much more often than its presence; or at least, that much faster.

Though I don't agree that just waiting will bring the solution to this problem in a way that people will be happy with, you have a point about the self-inflicted wounds.

I assure you, it is not my intent to advise mere waiting. Yet the current approach to the problem appears worse than the problem itself.

Only one person has tried to get it off violently so far--he survived at least, and his example should show the others that it's a bad idea to begin with that doesn't even work anyway.

Calmly looking for a way to remove them without hurting the person they're on seems like our only option right now.

Date: 2010-09-29 11:19 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] getsome-sleep.livejournal.com
I must respectfully disagree. As I have said: it is unwise to equate the removal the outward sign, with the removal of the mark and its consequences. Our best option is rather to consider what these consequences may be, and attempt to prepare accordingly.

Sometimes people calling themselves the CPA write in rainbow ink on the journals, and the rainbow seems to be their symbol.

I don't want to jump to conclusions about them, but it's hard to trust people who don't trust anyone.

Hard to say; they're a secretive bunch. But they've implied that they were behind some of the things that happen around here before.

Not that they did anything to prove it, that's just what they claimed.

[ooc: Nope, unfortunately... and he doesn't even have it in his journal anymore, because of his death.]

They claimed that they couldn't give the virgins unicorns--something about a budget problem. But the entry did say that they were responsible for everyone with cat ears getting a collar.

If I remember right, all questions anyone asked them were misdirected, apparently misunderstood, or answered with riddles and nonsense.
